An award-winning radiologist who draws on extensive experience, Douglas N. Hornsby, MD, is the president of Digital Radiology, Inc. In 2002, he founded the teleradiology services company, which has medical imaging centers in Florida and Georgia. Since 2010, Douglas N. Hornsby, MD has concurrently served as chairman of the Department of Radiology at Douglas Gardens Hospital in Miami, Florida. In addition, he teaches radiology students as an adjunct professor at Barry University.
Previously, Douglas N. Hornsby, MD, spent three years as chairman of the Department of Radiology at South Shore Hospital in Miami Beach, Florida. In addition, Dr. Hornsby spent more than a decade as the president and owner of American Medical Consultants, headquartered in Memphis, Tennessee. He also served as the president of Helping Hands Nursing, Inc., a private nursing home company with 16 offices in six states.
Dr. Douglas Hornsby is a former combat medic with the United States Army who served in Vietnam and received two Purple Hearts. He also earned multiple awards for valor, including the Silver Star and Bronze Star with V device. He is a member of the Military Order of The Purple Heart.
In regards to his professional achievements, Dr. Hornsby earned a Gold Medal for lifetime achievement in radiology from the Florida Radiological Society (FRS) and received the Marconi-Picker Award as the Best Resident in Florida from the FRS in 2001. He is past president of the FRS and the current Vice President of the Optimist Club of North Bay Village and member of the Miami Shores Chamber of Commerce.
Dr. Douglas Hornsby attended the University of Tennessee College of Medicine and completed a diagnostic radiology residency at Mount Sinai Medical Center, followed by a fellowship in radiology management and body imaging at Brigham and Women’s Hospital at Harvard Medical School.
